Discovered Browser Extension

Overview

The Discovered Chrome browser extension makes it easy to add candidates directly from LinkedIn into your Discovered jobs.

Instead of copying and pasting details or uploading files manually, you can:

  • Open a LinkedIn profile
  • Choose the correct company, job, and status
  • Click Add to job post

…and the candidate is automatically created in Discovered with their LinkedIn profile attached. This helps recruiters and hiring managers build strong pipelines from sourced talent without leaving their browser.

💡 If your team has shared an installation link (e.g., from the Chrome Web Store), use that to install the extension and follow the steps below.

Meet the Discovered Browser Extension:

1. Install and Open the Discovered browser extension:

  • Go to the link to install de Discovered Browser Extension.
  • Google Chrome will automatically download and install the extension.
  • In Google Chrome, click the Discovered icon (head logo) in your browser toolbar.
  • If this is your first time using it, you’ll be prompted to sign in.

2. Sign in to Discovered (first-time use only):

  • Click Sign in in the extension popup.
  • A new tab will open; log in with your Discovered credentials.
  • Once signed in, close that tab and click the extension again.

3. Choose the company & job:

  • If you belong to multiple companies, select the company where you want to add the candidate.
  • From the Job post dropdown, choose the job you want to add the LinkedIn profile to (e.g., Entry Level Recruiter – Legal).

4. Select the candidate status:

  • Choose the status you want the candidate to enter in (e.g., New candidate).

This determines where they appear in your job’s pipeline when they land in Discovered.

5. Add the LinkedIn profile to the job:

  • With the LinkedIn profile open in your current tab, click Add to job post in the extension.
  • The extension will:
    • Capture information from the LinkedIn profile
    • Generate a PDF of the profile
    • Send it into the selected job in Discovered

You’ll see a brief loading state and a notification that the process is complete.

6. Verify the candidate in Discovered:

  • Go back to your Discovered account.
  • Open the job you selected in the extension.
  • Confirm that:
    • The candidate appears under the chosen status, and
    • Their LinkedIn profile PDF is attached to their record.

From here, you can treat them like any other candidate—move them through statuses, assign assessments, schedule interviews, and more.

Why This Matters

Sourcing from LinkedIn is a key part of most modern recruiting strategies—but manually transferring candidate data into your ATS is slow and error-prone.

The Discovered browser extension:

  • Eliminates manual data entry from LinkedIn into Discovered
  • Speeds up sourcing workflows, allowing you to add candidates in seconds
  • Keeps your pipeline organized, with candidates going straight into the right job and status
  • Ensures consistent documentation by attaching a snapshot of the LinkedIn profile as a PDF

This lets you spend more time evaluating talent and less time copying, pasting, and uploading.

Use Cases

  • Recruiters & Sourcers
    • Add promising LinkedIn profiles to open jobs as you find them.
    • Build talent pools for hard-to-fill roles quickly and systematically.
  • Hiring Managers
    • Spot strong potential hires on LinkedIn and instantly push them into the same job your recruiter is working on.
  • Agencies
    • Maintain clean, centralized records in Discovered while sourcing across multiple LinkedIn accounts or clients.
  • Talent Pipelines for Future Roles
    • Tag sourced candidates to “evergreen” or bench roles to keep a warm pipeline ready for future hiring needs.

Best Practices

  • Install and test before heavy use: Add yourself or a colleague from LinkedIn as a test candidate to confirm everything is working as expected.
  • Confirm context before importing: Double-check:
    • The company (if you’re assigned to more than one)
    • The job post
    • The status (e.g., New candidate vs. Under review)
  • Keep LinkedIn open in the active tab: Make sure the LinkedIn profile you want to import is the one currently open when you click Add to job post.
  • Use consistent workflows: Decide as a team:
    • Which statuses you’ll use for sourced candidates
    • Which jobs are “sourcing-only” vs. fully active roles
  • Report issues quickly: If a profile doesn’t import as expected or you see errors, grab a screenshot and contact support so our team can help and improve the experience.

What Happens Next

Once a candidate is imported via the Discovered browser extension:

  • They appear in your selected job posting in Discovered under the chosen status.
  • Their LinkedIn profile PDF is attached to their candidate record.
  • You can:
    • Add notes and tags
    • Assign assessments
    • Move them through your hiring workflow
    • Include them in sequences, outreach, interviews, and more

If you run into any issues or have questions about using the extension, reach out to our support team and share which profile and job you were working with so we can help you quickly.
