Reference Checks

Reference checking is an essential tool during the hiring process. The reference check tab allows you to request references from candidates and track the progress of responses. Once a reference is requested, Discovered automatically contacts the provided references using the reference questionnaire set up on your job posting. You can monitor reference statuses, including whether they've responded or if there's any concern about fraud, such as duplicate IP addresses. Additionally, you can manually resend requests, stop further messages, or even fill out references over the phone on their behalf. Once completed, the responses can be reviewed directly in the profile and exported as a PDF for easy sharing.

Key Steps

  1. Access the reference checking tab by going to the job posting, selecting the candidate, and opening their profile.
  2. Initiate a reference check by clicking on the "Request via Email" button if contacts have not been requested.
  3. Customize the email template as needed before sending the reference request to the candidate.
  4. Monitor the reference checking section to track the status of references provided by the candidate.
  5. Review the number of messages sent, check for fraud indicators, and manage references accordingly.
  6. Stop sending messages to a reference if needed by clicking the designated button.
  7. Manually send another request or fill out questions on behalf of the reference if required.

Cautionary Notes

  • If a candidate has not granted permission to contact their references, Discovered will not contact the reference until they do give permission.
  • Pay attention to fraud indicators and take necessary actions to prevent misuse of the reference checking system.
  • Double-check the accuracy of information provided by the candidate to avoid errors in the reference checking process.

Tips for Efficiency

  • Regularly monitor the reference checking tab to stay updated on the status of reference requests and responses.
  • Utilize the option to manually send requests or fill out questions on behalf of references for smoother communication.
  • Create PDFs of reference questions and answers for easy sharing with team members if needed.
