Indeed Corporate Domain Email Requirement
Overview
Indeed now requires every job posting to include a company email address that uses a domain your business controls, such as sandra@yourcompany.com.
Free consumer email addresses, including Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, Outlook.com, iCloud, AOL, Comcast, AT&T, and similar addresses, no longer meet this requirement. Enforcement begins October 31, 2026. After that date, postings that still use a free email address may receive reduced visibility in Indeed search results.
This update helps ensure your job postings use a professional, company-controlled email address and helps prevent active postings from losing visibility because they are still tied to a personal or free email account.
If you do not have a company email address yet, start with the How to Set Up a Corporate Domain Email Address guide.
If you already have a company email address and need to update it in Discovered, use the How to Update Your Email Address in Discovered guide.
What Is Changing
Indeed now requires job postings to use a company email address on a business domain.
Examples of compliant company email addresses include:
Examples of email addresses that no longer meet the requirement include:
The email address must be on a domain your business controls.
Who This Affects
This affects Discovered clients who are currently posting jobs to Indeed with a free or consumer email address.
If your jobs are already using a company domain email address, you may not need to create a new email address. However, you should still confirm that your Discovered account and your active Indeed postings show the correct address.
What You Need to Do
1. Make sure you have a company email address
First, confirm whether your company already has a corporate domain email address.
Many businesses already have a company domain but continue posting jobs from a personal email address out of habit. If your company has a website, you may already own the domain and only need to create or use an email address on that domain.
If you do not have a company email address yet, follow this guide:
→ How to Set Up a Corporate Domain Email Address
Important: Discovered uses the email address of the user who posts the job. If multiple people at your company post jobs through Discovered, each person needs their own company email address. A single shared address cannot cover multiple users.
2. Update the email address in Discovered
After you have a company email address, update it in Discovered.
This includes two separate updates:
- Update the email address on your Discovered user account.
- Update the email address on any jobs already posted to Indeed.
Changing your account email does not automatically update jobs that are already live on Indeed. Existing postings must be updated separately.

If You Have Many Active Indeed Postings
If you have a lot of active jobs posted to Indeed, Discovered can help update the postings for you.
Contact your Discovered account representative and provide the company email address you want used on your postings. The team can help review your active Indeed postings and update them on your behalf.
If You Are a Franchise Location
Franchise locations should check with their franchisor before registering a new domain.
Indeed is still working through how this requirement applies to franchises. Start by asking your franchisor whether they provide a company email address that can be used for hiring at your location.
Do not register a domain that includes the franchise brand name unless you have written approval from the franchisor. This helps avoid brand, trademark, or franchise agreement issues.

Why This Matters
Using a company domain email address helps keep your Indeed postings compliant and reduces the risk of job visibility issues after enforcement begins.
It also helps make your recruiting communication more professional and consistent. Updating both your Discovered account and your existing Indeed postings ensures new and active jobs use the correct email address.
Use Cases
Use this guide when you need to:
- Confirm whether Indeed’s email requirement affects your company
- Replace a free or personal email address on job postings
- Set up a company domain email address
- Update the email address on your Discovered account
- Update active jobs already posted to Indeed
- Review postings created by multiple users
- Handle email setup for a franchise location
Best Practices
- Start early so there is enough time to create and test company email addresses.
- Use a company email address on a domain your business controls.
- Make sure each user who posts jobs has their own company email address.
- Update your Discovered account email before updating live job postings.
- Review all active jobs currently posted to Indeed.
- Ask your franchisor before registering a brand-based domain if you are a franchise location.
- Contact your Discovered account representative if you have many postings to update.
What Happens Next
After you update your company email address in Discovered, use that address to sign in and continue posting jobs.
If you have existing jobs posted to Indeed, update those postings separately so Indeed sees the correct company email address.
Discovered sends updates to Indeed after changes are saved, but Indeed may take a short time to process them on the live listing.
