Resume Scoring Criteria Templates
Overview
Resume Scoring Criteria Templates let you save a set of scoring instructions and apply it to other jobs in a couple of clicks. Kingsley then follows the same rules when it rates candidates for each of those jobs.
Templates hold Scoring instructions only. The job description stays specific to each job.
You can work with templates in two places:
- In a job's Resume Scoring Criteria: Admins and Editors can save a job's instructions as a template and apply any template to the job.
- In Templates → Resume scoring criteria: Admins can create, edit, duplicate and delete templates.
Templates belong to your company and are shared by everyone on your company's account. To learn how scoring instructions work, see Set Resume Scoring Criteria.
Before You Start
- You need Admin or Editor permissions to save or apply templates in a job.
- You need Admin permissions to manage templates in Templates. Other users see No access. Only Admins can manage Resume Scoring Criteria templates.
How to Save a Template from a Job:
1. Open the Job's Resume Scoring Criteria
- Go to the job post and click the Find and Evaluate Talent tab.
- Click the Resume Scoring Criteria card.
2. Save the Instructions as a Template
- Write or review the text in Scoring instructions.
- Click Save as template. The button is available once the section has text.
- Enter a Template name and click Save. You'll see Template saved.
Note: Saving a template doesn't save the job. Click Submit if you also want to keep the changes on this job.
How to Apply a Template to a Job:
1. Open the Job's Resume Scoring Criteria
- Go to the job post, click Find and Evaluate Talent and click the Resume Scoring Criteria card.
2. Pick a Template
- Click Select template above Scoring instructions and choose a template.
- Its text replaces whatever is in Scoring instructions. The Job description isn't changed.
- Edit the instructions for this job if you need to.
3. Submit
- Click Submit to save. Click Cancel to keep the job's instructions as they were.
Note: Applying a template copies its text into the job. If you edit or delete the template later, jobs that already used it keep their instructions.
How to Manage Templates (Admins):
1. Open the Templates
- Go to Templates in the main menu and select Resume scoring criteria.
- Your templates appear as cards, with the most recently updated first.
2. Create a Template
- Click Create Resume Scoring Criteria Template.
- Enter a Template title and the Scoring instructions. Both are required, and instructions can be up to 10,000 characters.
- Click Save.
3. Edit a Template
- Click a template card.
- Change the title or instructions and click Save.
4. Duplicate a Template
- Click the Duplicate icon on a card.
- A copy named "Copy of <title>" appears first in the list. Click it to rename or edit it.
5. Delete a Template
- Click the Delete icon on a card.
- In Delete template?, click Delete.
- The template disappears from Templates and from the Select template list in every job. Jobs that already applied it keep their scoring instructions.
Why This Matters
Writing good scoring rules takes thought. Templates let you do it once and apply the same standard everywhere.
- Consistency: Every job of the same type is rated by the same rules.
- Speed: Set up scoring for a new job in seconds.
- Control: Admins keep the shared library clean and current.
Use Cases
- Multi-location hiring: Apply one "Delivery Driver" template to the job at every location.
- Agencies: Keep a template per client so each client's must-haves are applied every time.
- Standardizing teams: Give recruiters a vetted starting point instead of writing rules from scratch.
Best Practices
- Name templates by role or job family, such as Registered Nurse – Acute Care.
- Keep templates general enough to reuse, then fine-tune the instructions on each job.
- Review your templates when your hiring requirements change. Remember that existing jobs don't update automatically.
What Happens Next
- Jobs you apply a template to use its instructions for every new candidate's rating.
- To re-rate candidates who were already rated, click Appraise next to their rating. See Rate Candidates.
- For more on writing strong criteria, see Set Resume Scoring Criteria.
With Resume Scoring Criteria Templates, you can bring the same scoring standards to every job in just a few clicks.
