Manage Blocked Candidates

Review everyone your company has blocked, see the full history of blocks, and lift a block when it's no longer needed.

Overview

The Blocked Candidates page in Settings gives Admins one place to manage candidate blocks across the company. It has two views:

  • Blocked: everyone who is blocked right now, with the reason, who blocked them, when, and every candidate record they have at your company
  • History: every block and unblock event, newest first, so you can see how decisions changed over time

Blocks apply to every job post at your company. To learn how to block someone from a candidate record, see Block Candidates.

Note: Only users with Admin permissions can open the Blocked Candidates page. Editors can still block and unblock people from a candidate record.

How to Open the Blocked Candidates Page:

1. Go to Settings

  • Click your name in the top-right corner.
  • Select Settings.
  • Under General Settings, click the Blocked Candidates tile.

2. Review Who Is Blocked

The Blocked view lists one row per blocked person:

  • Person: the name, email and phone number saved when the person was blocked
  • Reason: the reason chosen, and the note for Other
  • Blocked by and Blocked on: who blocked the person and when
  • Candidate records: every job the person is in at your company, with the record's current status. Click a job to open that candidate record. Only the first three are shown at first. Click Show 2 more (the number changes with the count) to see the rest, and Show less to collapse the list.

3. Search, Filter and Sort

  • Use the search box to find a person by name, email or phone number.
  • Filter by Reason or by Blocked by. You can select more than one value in each filter.
  • Click a column heading to sort by Person, Reason, Blocked by or Blocked on.

The search and filters apply to both the Blocked and History views.

4. Unblock a Person (Optional)

  • Click Unblock in the person's row.
  • Click Unblock again to confirm.

The person disappears from the Blocked view, and the unblock is added to History. New applications from them are no longer rejected automatically, but records that were already rejected stay Rejected.

5. Review the History

  • Click History at the top of the table.
  • Each row is one event: Blocked or Unblocked, with the date, the person, who made the change and the reason.
  • Use the Unblocked by filter to see the blocks a specific user lifted.

If the same person was blocked, unblocked and blocked again, each event is listed separately. The History view is read-only.

Good to Know

  • The numbers next to Blocked and History always show your company's totals, even when a search or filter is applied.
  • When your company hasn't blocked anyone yet, the page shows No blocked candidates. To block someone, start from their candidate record.
  • The search, filters and sorting reset when you reload the page. If you reload while on History, the page stays on History.
  • The Blocked Candidates page isn't available in company group view. Switch to a specific company to manage its blocks.

Why This Matters

Blocks keep working in the background, so it's easy to lose track of them. A central list makes it simple to check who is blocked and why, and to correct a decision when circumstances change.

The Blocked Candidates page helps you:

  • Audit who is blocked and the reason behind each block
  • See every job a blocked person is attached to
  • Keep a permanent record of every block and unblock

Use Cases

  • Periodic Review: Admins check the blocked list each quarter and lift blocks that are no longer needed.
  • Team Accountability: Filter by Blocked by to see the blocks a specific recruiter created.
  • Compliance Questions: Use History to show when a person was blocked, by whom and why.

Best Practices

  • Review the Blocked list regularly so old decisions don't stay in place by accident.
  • Use the Reason filter to spot patterns, such as many repeat applicants.
  • Before unblocking someone, check their candidate records. Unblocking doesn't move rejected records back into your pipeline.

What Happens Next

  • After you unblock someone, their next application goes through your normal hiring process.
  • To block someone new, open their candidate record. See Block Candidates.

With the Blocked Candidates page, you can see and control every block at your company from one place.
